Tea Rex

Steeped in history.

Rare Chinese teas — aged pu-er, cliff oolong, silver-bud white — from old-growth forests and centuries-old traditions, poured slowly in the green heart of Ubud.

People have grown, argued over and written about tea for more than a thousand years. We pour what that history left us.

  • Spend it from Rp 150.000, all at once if you like.

Weekly Schedule

The same every week

Our regular programme — seven days, seven gatherings. No need to check the dates: it runs like this every week.

MonQuiet TeaA few words from the tea master, then silence — aroma, taste, and whatever surfaces. Time to talk at the end. Nothing to know beforehand.13:00
TueSound HealingA DJ set and an open jam. Bring an instrument, play or sing — and the evening is yours, tea ceremony and all. Our guitar and cajón are here if you would rather use ours. Come just to listen and it is Rp 200.000, ceremony included.15:00
WedBoard Games & TeaOpens with a tea ceremony, then a table full of games — we swap them around, so no two nights are alike. Book ahead: some games need a set number of players. Come as a group and the tea costs less.17:00
ThuMasala ChaiIndian spiced chai, our way — built on shu pu-er and oat milk instead of black tea, which makes it deeper and rounder. Warm, fragrant, unhurried.17:00
FriArt JamA tea ceremony and a new programme every week — painting, clay, poetry, odd little exercises. Not a class, and nothing has to come out well. Materials and tea included, 1–1½ hours.14:00
SatCocktail PartyThe room turns into a small club with a DJ. The ticket includes two cocktails built on tea, made by our own method — or swap them for a tea ceremony if you'd rather.19:00
SunClay WorkshopShape one tea bowl by hand — no wheel — then paint it. Tea ceremony, 150 g of clay and a teacher included. Firing happens off-site, so the finished bowl is ready in two weeks to a month.14:00

Every session Rp 200.000 per person. Board Games needs booking ahead — message us and we will keep you a seat.
